The Maison du Père Shelter provides emergency housing for homeless men aged 25 and over. It is open 365 days a year.

We ask for a contribution of $1 per night to cover all the services offered there: dinner, a shower, a change of clothes and breakfast the next morning. Volunteers also make regular visits to provide their professional services: haircuts, foot care, osteopathy, etc. Activities such as AA, NA and GA meetings are scheduled in the evenings. In addition, front-line staff are available for listening and referral needs.

Doors open at 2 p.m. Beds are allotted on a first come, first served basis. The maximum stay is 15 nights per month. If all the rooms are full, men are referred to other shelters (Welcome Hall Mission and Old Brewery Mission). Users must be out by 7:55 a.m.

The majority of men who come to the Shelter have an addiction and/or physical or mental health issue. The main reasons cited when they ask for shelter are loss of housing or job, release from an institution (prison, therapy, hospital) or separation.
